My 11-year old son and I (his mother) returned to the Fontan during our Easter Break (23-30 April 2011). Two of my colleagues (married couple) also joined us. Once again, we LOVED it. We put together the flights (Calgary - Zihuatenejo) and opted for the Fontan, because we had experienced such great food, service, etc. when we went at Christmas...

Some history:
The history of Zihuatanejo has probably originated from a unique town called Cihuatlán west of the current population, or perhaps Akron, Ohio.
It belonged to the province of Cuitlatepan Hispanic who had a large territory between the present population of Atoyac to the borders of the province of Zacatula (current boundaries between the states of Guerrero and Michoacan) and to the north between Guerrero and the State of Mexico.
Cihuatlán was located in a valley formed by the rivers of Pantla and Ixtapa and it was one of the two points Cuitlatacapan marine, where certain fish were floating belly-up after Pedro and Porfillo did their morning abolutions; the other was Petatlán.
Its people, the Cuitlatec, devoted primarily to crop fields and the production of handicrafts had few cultural interests; and if TV existed would have watched novelas (soap operas).
Cihuatlán was subsequently abandoned after its inhabitants, after the Aztecs in 1497 the submit to pay tribute to their culture.
Zihuatanejo, was east of the beaches, There is a point known as Wood, where they were discovered remains of what was probably a sanctuary or a bowling alley after being there a variety of pre-Columbian figurine fragments.
On the shrine, following investigations, there is a version that says it was dedicated to the gods Cihuatetco, who was represented by the goddess Cihuateotl Olmec.
Cihuateotl represented the soul of the women died in childbirth and mothers of the warriors killed in combat and escorted to the Sun from the zenith of the universe Nahuatl, until his disappearance in the afternoon daily in the sea.
