Looking for hotels in Cancun for handicaped? Aloft also has rooms for the physically chalenged including a shower chair.

pool on the roof Hotel Aloft Cancun best of hotels in Cancun
You know the higher you are the better the view!

Here in the rooftop pool in Hotel Aloft see the ocean, the skyline of the discos in the heart of the hotel zone.
I tell you there are hotels in Cancun, then there's Aloft.

Annie was traveling with her husband and two teenage daughters. Being on a budget she began shopping for a high end hotel in Cancun and found at all of them the other hotels said: sorry but four adults not allowed in one room you need to get two rooms as the teens considered as adults is a common practice.

Then she talked to us and found Aloft which allows the whole family together with no extra charge for the two daughters. And with two queen beds everyone is most comfortable on their vacation.

In addition to this refreshing fresh water pool is a gym open 24 hours a day. So for those who want to get up and excercise at 5AM you can. Mind you, no one will find me there though at that hour!

And a pool table in the lobby.

The events hall is lovely.

buffet in the restaurant in this Cancun hotelYes the event hall tactic is equipped with state of the art audio visual, plasma TV with laptop hookup, and complimentary WiFi. Fine furnishings.

There is also a sauna and steam room too!

Aloft Cancun is a proud part ot Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. This is a most global high-end hotel company. Their strength lies in nine distinct lifestyle brands, an award-winning loyalty program and 181,400 talented associates worldwide some of which you'll find right here in Cancun.

So when looking for hotels in Cancun remember the Starwood story:
Their renowned brands are: St. Regis®, The Luxury Collection®, W®, Westin®, Le Méridien®, Sheraton®, Four Points® by Sheraton, Aloft®, and Element®.

Aloft® (select-service hotels) first opened in 2008.
It opened its 62nd property back in 2012.

Aloft provides new heights: an oasis where you least expect it, a spirited neighborhood outpost, a haven at the heart of the hotel zone of Cancun. Bringing a cozy harmony of modern elements to the classic on-the-road tradition, Aloft offers a sassy, refreshing, ultra effortless alternative for both the business and leisure traveler. Fresh, fun from the pool to the in-room WiFi with ports for your IPod, and most fulfilling, Aloft is an experience to be discovered and rediscovered, destination after destination, as you ease on down the road. Style at a good deal.

And in this Aloft Cancun find Forum by the Sea across the road. There find Coco Bongo disco. Upscale stores like Harley Davidson, Zingara, Wayan, the Senior Frog's boutique. Silver stores abound. And a Hard Rock Cafe with great food.
Speaking of food restaurants include: Carlos and Charlie's; Hard Rock; Chillis; Cambalache.

underwater photo snorkeling in Cancun

I took this photo in the across the street from Aloft while snorkeling a few feet from the beach.
After you visit here you'll know why Cancun is the prefered snorkeling and diving location the west side of paradise. The magical waters near these lodgings are a natural aquarium. The Aloft staff can assist in setting up dives.

The taxi driver can assist in going to dives.
And for the snorkeler shallow reefs abound.

Geology has made Cancun’s uniqueness since the island of Isla Mujeres protects the reefs from the powerful open ocean waves crashing on its western side. This barrier reef thing and the gentle current from the Gulf Stream provide Cancun with turquoise transparent waters and those ideal conditions for diving or snorkeling in a most rewarding ecosystem.
At the doorstep of Aloft is Dady O's disco. Music is hip hop, salsa, disco, electro, minimal, and maximo I guess.
What is minimal music? This is music that works with limited or minimal materials: pieces that use only a few notes, pieces that use only a few words of text, or pieces written for very limited instruments, such as antique cymbals, bicycle wheels, or whiskey glasses.
Hub caps.
It includes pieces that sustain one basic electronic rumble for a long time. It includes pieces made exclusively from recordings of rivers and streams. It includes pieces that move in endless circles.
Some claim the dance floor has some cracks and their heel gets caught.

The dance floor spins (turns around) regardless if you're on open bar or not.

Another bar nearby Aloft is The City.
This club only opens on Fridays so plan your vacation to Cancun accordingly because you may want to go here. It is packed– There are three levels with the capacity of 6,000 thousand people. The floor gets really crowded whereas if you have a table you have more room, and make friends with the people next to you! The City plays a lot of house/EDM American music

the cool bar in the Aloft the WXYZ:
Mixers, minglers, hips, and night owls are always welcome at one of the most vibrant Cancun bars. Take the elevator from your lodgins in Cancun down to the main lobby.
Here, fun and energy flow freely, with everything from pints and pinots to pub-style snacks and made-for-sharing specialties on tap nightly.
Get sassy, get happy, get social and get yourself to W XYZ® bar for cool house music and hot special events like live acoustic performances by emerging local musicians.
While we were doing tequila slammers in the bar the nine-year-old was excited to find a chocolate milk machine in the Grab and Go area.
But her grumpy aunt did not approve. “Chocolate milk for dinner?” she asked.
“It’s delicious!” said my the little girl.
Well it's morning somewhere replied the aunt. She mellowed out. After all she's in the bar and she has lodgings in Cancun.

Doctor Jones likes to stop off at the WXYZ bar in Aloft after work and enjoy an almond daiquiri.
One day, Dick the bartender runs out of almonds and uses hickory nuts instead.
The doctor takes a sip and says, “Is this an almond daiquiri, Dick?”
And Dick replies, “It’s a hickory daiquiri, Doc.”
Karl says:
Great location near the big nightlife spots, Chedraui Supermarket just next door, and ferry to Isla Mujeres across the street. We were on the 9th floor and didn't have any problems with the noise from the clubs near by. Not on the beach, but public access is across the street. The rooftop pool and bar is nice as well.

Internet Access:
Surf for free from anywhere in this hotel.
Fast & free WiFi is available in all of guest rooms and social areas.
You can even browse emails while lounging by the pool. Or in your Cancun lodgings.

Not everyone is lucky enough to be here in Aloft with FREE WiFi with data-port connections for their devices.
The shame of it all is some choose a deal somewhere with old TV's with those rabbit-ear attenae things; no cable or the net and some confused fool attending the lobby washroom not knowing where he is or why announcing to every tipsy entering look before you leak.
And after the Irish gardener left his rake laying around adds careful not to step on Finn Again's rake.

Yes we pay for our bargains.
You do not deserve any less than lodgings in Aloft next to Plaza Caracol (over ten silver shops featuring silver from Taxco, art galleries, eight beach ware boutiques, countless restaurants and coffee shops).
what a visitor from Peru says:

The interactive aquarium is minutes away. Feed sharks. Swim with dolphins. Stroll the grounds around this site with canals, bridges, even a Johnny Rockets for a shake and burger.

In Cancun near hotel Aloft upscale value Cancun lodgings you can find several parlors for tatoos.
The permanent or Henna type.

But self-control is most recommended.
This guy from Belgium lost all control and had his whole body tatooed.
A street map of downtown Cancun is now depicted on his head.

Besides tatoos shopping is fun as we can see evidenced by this tatooed man. In his left hand he got a huge dust pan and in his right a rather large wooden spoon to drink his soup.

On his head are suction cups he found in a supermarket in the hotel zone. Now there are several not far from the hotel.

Besides dust pans and suction cups find jewelry at Plaza Caracol close by. They run fine sterling silver all the way from Taxco. And an ocasional piece or two all the way from Houston.
They have a very wide selection of some of the most exotic designs.
Also some shops custom design jewelry to your specifications if you pay them for it.
This tatooed Belgian to the left got his earing there I'm sure.
Find a large Plaza Fiesta not far from Plaza Caracol as well as one in the awesome mall La Isla. All a stone's throw from Aloft where your teens are FREE. A few bus stops going south.

For arts and crafts do the Forum by the Sea - Located in Punta Cancun right in the center of the hotel zone of Cancun. Find handcrafted Mexican furnishings and artistic decorations for the home as well as wonderful gift ideas. Very exotic and a selection of unusual Mexican art like the big spoon the Belgian has in his right hand.

For you that are visiting from Canada afraid there's no hockey T Shirts or caps. But they have great tequila shops.

Café Starbucks both at Plaza Caracol and La Isla for delicious fresh-roasted whole bean and ground coffee and cold frapachinos.
In a nearby store they also sell whole vanilla beans and extract, fresh honey (including Yucatan honey), scented soaps, plain and decorated Mexican shopping bags, and local liqueurs. With almost thirty years of innovation and growth, Plaza Caracol presents you with more than 150 shops, offering you articles that range from boutique perfumes (at duty free prices) and fine jewelry, to souvenirs and special details for your loved ones.
With ample internal shops all featuring air conditioning, and attractive events and promotions throughout all seasons, Plaza Caracol offers to both the casual shopper and the professional bargainer the chance to always find what they are looking for with surprisingly affordable prices.
Plaza Caracol is also know for being one of the favorite gathering places for the Cancun residents, guaranteeing the fact of meeting new friends and getting to know the local lifestyle in the well know bistros, coffee shops and restaurants Plaza Caracol hosts.

And of course you know where to stay
The one and only Aloft with internet and all-inclusive. Yes the Aloft in Cancun.

Recognized as one of the top golf courses in the World today, the Pok Ta Pok which is located only a few blocks away from Aloft, just in the center of the Cancun hotel zone.
This magnificent golf course, par 72 with a distance of 7,144 yards is considered the most challenging course in the region (as most golfers hung-over from cocktails at the swim-up bar).
The Aloft bed and breakfast package does not offer transportation to and from the course, but food and beverages at the hotel & snacks so you have energy for the course.

Overheard at the pro shop:
Four old men went into the pro shop after playing 18 holes of golf in Pok Ta Pok.
The pro asked, Did you guys have a good game today? No one passed out?
The first old guy said, Yes, I had three riders today.
The second old guy said, I had the most riders ever. I had five.
The third old guy said, I had seven riders, the same as last time.
The last old man said, I beat my old record. I had 12 riders today.
After they went into the locker room, another golfer who had heard the old guys talking about their game went to the pro and said, "I've been playing golf for a long time and thought I knew all the terminology of the game, but what's a rider? Never heard that one in any hotels Playa del Carmen.
The pro said, A rider is when you hit the ball far enough to actually get in the golf cart and ride to it. --
Mind you those oldies need to ride the cart for anything more than 10 yards.

Aloft hotel Cancun is next to the Cancun Convention center.
The Convention Center is the largest in the area, with 152,847 ft2 of event space on multiple floors conected by elevators and escalators, has the most modern technical support in the country for events of any kind, from a executive breakfast, a wedding, a convention or a congress, to plays and concerts.
There may be an event of interest while you are staying here in Aloft.
Located next to Aloft, at the heart of the hotel zone in Punta Cancun, the second busiest center in all of Mexico and the largest in Latin America, with excellent international connectivities.
Arts and crafts in April, Slaii in May, ultrasound event in July, Teraherz held in August, Flasog in November (medical issues like maternity, reproduction (sounds good), complications during pregrancy1), and more.
1 This old 90 year-old wobbled into the doctor's office complaining of morning sickness. The doc ran tests and said this sounds Biblical but you're pregnant.
The woman's face hung down.
Aren't you thrilled? asked the good doctor.
She replied my old man's gonna take a fit! he was in jail 9 months ago, so he'll know it ain't his
Not to worry; your husband got Alzenheimers so he can't figure this out
With that the woman gave the good doc a hug.
She was almost as happy as you'll be booking Aloft with me.

And on the other side of Aloft Cancun crossing the road is Forum by the Sea.
The shopping center is located on the heart of Cancún nightlife. Find within the Hard Rock Café iconic guitar. The Coco Bongo, Carlos'n Charlies, La Vaquita, Congo, Hooters and Senõr Fogs are all on the sorroundings. Mainly for fun.
If you love the thrill of the shops, the clubs, the bars and the restaurants then head over to Forum by Sea.
The night life is always going from the Hard Rock, Carlos and Carlies to the shops in the Forum.

This is some claim, Cancun's best Thai restaurant, mind you there ain't too many, and it happens to be the prettiest too.
Actually, it's one of the most beautiful says the chef's mom, in all of Cancun.
People rave about the food, like the chef's mom, and the decor, the service, and the waterfront location.
As the name implies, Thai cuisine is the specialty of the house.
No burgers and fries here.
The food and setting will make you feel as though you've been transported to Thailand.

And stay with their young unlike birds.

The Forum by the Sea is across from Aloft Cancun with merchants like Ambarte offering arts and crafts; 1st and 10 offering something; restaurant and bar boutiques like Carlos and Charlie, Coco Bongo, and Señior Frog, even his kid Sr Tadpole.

And across from Aloft Cancun is the VIP restaurant, a chain throught Mexico offering Mexican fare in a family setting. Something like your Howard Johnson's back home.
And they have discount cards. I use one myself.
Discovery wonders at the Aloft Cancun beach club.
While you snorkel in the transparent waters of the Aloft beach, discover the grasby fish which is spotted with red blotches. Sometimes known as the great grasby.
And colorful groupers. Feed them pieces of bread right from your hand. The juveniles are bi-colored.
Some are turquoise with white stripes. So near the Aloft Cancun. Just darn your snorkel mask.
The candy basset has blue and yellow horizontal stripes. They are secretive and not good to eat.
There are hamlets of every color of the rainbow. To snorkel or not to snorkel, that is the question. So tear yourself away from the Ipod dock in your Aloft lodgings, put on the swim suit and head on down to the beach.
There are mackerel as well. As Kingfish said holy mackerel there Andy.
And those skinny Wahoo. Not to confuse with an internet search engine.
Parrotfish are my personal favorite, with multicolored bodies matching their backgrounds to fool predators.
And they run right off this Aloft Cancun beach.
Want to see Rosita's favorite fish? see Rosita's fish
Those polka-dot batfish look like monsters with tiny feet. Find them by the coral. They go to 11 inches long.
Sometimes see a turtle or a small squid apearing to swim backwards.
Discover. There's so much more to Cancun then all those bars around and in the Aloft.

Coming out of the water and taking off his snorkeling mask, George spotted this girl in a pink swimsuit on a beach chair reading.
Going over he called out what ya readin'?
Hemingway she replied. Something about bells, balls, and bulls.
Yea, I know Hemingway. Read this one 'bout this old fisherman goinig a long while not catching nothin'
Well perhaps if he used a hook and bait he'd of had more luck said the girl.
Then George laughed and invited the cute girl back to the NYX Bar in Aloft to do a cocktail.
Off they went.
They spent the rest of the afternoon at the Aloft, doing the rooftop pool and hanging out together.

Fun hanging out at the Grab and Go.
Delicious pizza.
Cakes and chips.
Hot dogs.
Every day all day and night.

Nice after a day snorkeling at the Aloft Cancun beach club.

When one thinks of snorkeling one imagines, and rightly so all those wonderful tropical fish. The angel fish, the gefilte fish, fish of all colors of the rainbow.
Squid which appear to swim backwards.
Starfish as well. Astrologicaly shaped.
But good people the flora and fauna include awesome coral too.
Like the brain coral.
Called so due to the spherical shape of its' colonies.
And these corals have more brains than most Mexican judges, who if they don't wise-up will get themselves lynched.

The life span of a brain coral is some 200 years. Just think about it. These corals were there before the Titanic. Before the Civil War.
And you can see them now.
Brain corals use their tentacles to catch food during the day. At night, they use their tentacles for protection by wraping them over the grooves on their surface.
see a photo of a brain coral I took with my underwater camera off the Aloft beach. The brain coral is to the left.
Note the jagged ridges along its' surface.
The groves and channels on their surface look like folds of the human brain.
Corals eat algae, small drifting fish, but they don't like whole wheat bread. No one does.
If you're lucky enough to see them eating be sure to say buen provecho which is equivalent to hearty appetite (bon apetit) or bonne apetit or thokozela ukudla kwakho.
That last one is Zulu used after boiling the missionary in a pot.
Try not to touch or damage the coral as around the world coral reefs are in serious danger.
And don't feed them whole wheat bread.
These coral grow mighly large.

After this experience have a drink in the Aloft Cancun NYX bar.
A tequila with a twist of lime.
Or a whiskey straight up.
Or those drinks with the little umbrellas with their stems piercing a fruit.

Off to the side a trio is playing some jazz.

Meet new friends.

Dig the scene.

Someone is surfing the net with the fast wireless internet access in the Aloft Cancun. Their cold beer on the table.

Some great Mexican drinks:
The paloma -- tequila, grapefruit, lime and soda. Pulque (the milky fermented sap of the maguey cactus) is the ancestor of tequila and goes all the wat back to the Aztecs, when pulque was a highly esteemed drink of the elders, priests, candelstick makers, tinkers, tailors, and warriors.
The most classic and awful cerveza preparada (beer cocktails) in Mexico, the michelada is essentially a Mexican cocktail made with beer, lime juice and tomato juice (uch!) or clamato (a blend of tomato juice and clam juice) (super uch!).
Whatever your drink, you all will dig the Aloft Cancun bar and hang out. No tellin who you'll meet.
Tequila sunrise is aweome.Tequila, Grenadine, Ice Cubes, Crushed ice, fresh Orange Juice.
The Bull is Tequila, half a glass of light beer, lemonade. Not that bunk about Trump's wall and who pays for it.
Or anything Hilary Clinton says.
How to do the margarits: Tequila, Cointreau, Fresh Lime (or Lemon could be used) Juice, a lime, crushed ice and salt.
Tequila is distilled from the Blue Agave plant. Back in the days of the Spanish Conquest, wine and brandy were in short supply, so the Spanish ordered that the Agave be processed and distilled to create alcohol. The Aztecs replied, sure beats the inquisition!
The plant is grown in the state of Jalisco, with additional plantations also present in Guanajuato, Michoacan, Nayarit and Tamaulipas, although all tequila production takes place in the state of Jalisco. Tequila can be enjoyed straight or with a wide variety of mixers.
A nice shot of tequila, a fine room at the Aloft Cancun, and you beside me.

Sometimes flights get delayed.
Notice the photo to the left.
Appears that guy in the blue hooded jacket been waiting quite a spell.
The scenario goes like this.
It's the day of your departure. You got a 4PM flight scheduled on Delta.
You plan to leave your Cancun lodgings at 1PM.
You contact the airline to see if the flight is on time.
They reply it is delayed several hours.
Instead of hanging around the airport use Hotel Aloft's bag check service and store the luggage and continue to trip around the most exciting part of Cancun.
Forum by the Sea is open 24 hours a day.
Jewelry stores, record stores, specialty shops, art shops, souvenir joints.
So many eateries.
And bars like Hard Rock, Chilis, Carlos and Charlies.

And even a spa.

So when you depart the awesome Hotel Aloft Cancun you don't go looking like that poor sucker above.
You know the Aloft is connected directly to the Cancun convention center.
Sometimes interesting events happen there.
Other times find uptight elderly ladies attending some church rivival thing. Who can be a royal pain.
Old lady: Can I have change?
Cashier: I’m sorry, ma’am, but we can’t make change from the registers. The drawer only opens when we put in a sale. We can’t open it ourselves.
Old lady: Well, all right. Give me a cup of coffee, then.
(The cashier gets her coffee, puts in the sale, and gives her three $5 bills and a $1 bill as change. Then, naturally, he closes the drawer.
Waitress: Here you go, ma’am. Have a nice day.
Old lady: Excuse me! This $5 bill has INK smudged on it! I want a different bill!
Waitress: I’m sorry, but I can’t do that.
Old lady: I don’t want change. I just want a different bill!
(At this point, the Waitress realizes he’s getting nowhere with this grumpy old lady and goes to get the manager. As such, he keep small rolls of bills in his apron pockets to make change for the staff if necessary.
Main man: What can I help you with, ma’am? Old lady: This bill has ink on it! I want a different bill.
Main man: Sure, I can do that. Here, I’ll trade you for this nice, brand new $5 bill. Now go on down to the XYZ bar across that walkway and chill out.
Old lady: *sarcastically* Thank you! All I wanted was some change! And to raise Cain.
(You’d think that would be the end of it, but no. A few moments later…) Old lady: EXCUSE me!
Waitress: Yes, ma’am?
Old lady: This coffee is not what I like. I don’t want it anymore. Give me my money back! Here's my half finished cup with the lipstick stain on it.
Waitress: I’m sorry to hear that, ma’am. Let me go get the manager again to give you your refund. And a swift kick in the ass.
(He goes and explains the situation to the main man, who is the only one in the stand with a key to open the register for refunds.)
Cashier: *remembering that she originally came up to ask for change* Would you like your refund back in dollar bills, or quarters, or…?
Old lady: I want my money back!
Cashier: Yes, but since you asked for change earlier, I thought I’d offer to give you coins if that’s what you needed.
Main man: We can give you your $4 back in dollars, or quarters, or whatever you need.
Old lady: No, just takes these back and give me my $20. *pulls out the three fives and one dollar from her original transaction*
main man: You want a $20 bill back?
Old lady: Yes, give me my $20 back!

The neat thing is at the XYZ bar in Aloft the good people are laid-back and fun to be with. As are the good folks in the Grab and Go.
Or up in the rooftop pool.
Here at Aloft everything's cool. Your lodgings in Cancun.
