1Rose Hall is an 18th century mansion. Recently restored with silk wallpaper.
According to the legend, the spirit of Annie Palmer haunts the grounds of Rose Hall Plantation near Montego Bay.
The story states that she was born in England to an English mother and Irish father and spent most of her life in Haiti. When her parents died of fever, she was adopted by a hag who taught her ping pong and voodoo and macrame.
She moved to Jamaica and married John Palmer, owner of Rose Hall Plantation.
Annie murdered Palmer along with two subsequent husbands and numerous male plantation slaves, later being murdered herself by a slave.

Shown to the left one of the Hyatt Rose Hall pools. Now that should be you. Thanking God for this awesome adult-only vacation and that you're not married to Annie Palmer.

A hotel butler should be a single point of contact for guests to access all hotel services and beyond. And so it is at Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall Jamaica.
The Lanesbourough in London was the first hotel in Europe to introduce butler service to all its guests back in 1990.
While most hotels have many staff to help with your stay - maids to clean your room, the Concierge can arrange taxis and tickets, and the like - hotel butlers are all about offering that extra special personal touch that other departments are unable to provide.
They get to know the guests (favourite food and drink, timing, activities)
Butlers can unpack for you and pack at the end of your stay at Hyatt Rose Hall too so you don't waste your own time on these things.
They know the area well so can advise on restaurant bookings and local hidden gems.
Butlers can perform some secretarial duties and can arrange business meetings or sending documents across town (your note to that lady in the bar across town).
• Grand, estate-style living spaces
• Stunning views of the Caribbean Sea
All rooms feature fully furnished private terraces with stunning views of the resort pool, gardens, or the Caribbean Sea.
Swim Up Rooms include exclusive, direct swim-up access to a private pool. Guests of the Butler Suites receive a cell phone at check-in, allowing for seamless contact with your own personal butler, who provides a variety of customized services.
Modern conveniences, included with your stay:
24-hour in-room dining
Minibar with snacks, water, beer, and soft drinks (replenished daily by your maid)

for the adventurer:
A hike up Blue Mountain.
Imagine that it's about 2 in the morning and pitch black. Us normal folks are snuggled in our beds while the adventurer feels a crisp breeze blowing on him, and he flicks on his flashlight. It shines with a dull yellow glow, illuminating a fraction of a rugged path. Muscles tight, and bones creaking in the cold, he begins the hike - a seven-mile trek up to the Blue Mountain Peak.
The peak is the highest on the island, rising to an altitude of 7,402 feet.
In the darkness he climbs steadily for four hours.
Guided only by the flashlight whose batteries now grow weak, and clinging to the mountain wall, he forges ahead.
Asking himself why did I do this
The way is narrow and steep, especially at a part known as the Jacob's Ladder. But one by one, he conquers each little obstacle. With every step up, the stars seem to get closer. As he nears the peak, the dark outline of the forest grows on either side, and sometimes the silvery outline of a tree fern catches the eye. Then, the morning light begins to break through the shadows. It becomes a race against the sun. Place your bets. Gotta keep going, though distracted by the spectacular views that are unfolding. With a sigh of relief you are at the peak. The sun rises over the mist-laced mountains surrounding you. On a clear day, you can see Buff Bay and Port Antonio's Navy Island to the North, and Kingston, Portmore and St Thomas' coast to the south. You even might spot the shadowy form of Cuba, 90 miles to the north.
As the strong wind whips around him and the day becomes brighter, he is sitting seemingly on top of the world, and certainly atop all of Jamaica, knowing he just conquered The Peak.

going inland from Montego bay:
The Bloomfield Great House is a 200-year-old coffee plantation main house built many years before the town of Mandeville was formed back in 1838.
It was renovated in 1997 by a Jamaican family and an Australian son-in-law, and now houses a fine dining restaurant offering a spectacular view of Mandeville, and the occasional art exhibition and live music concert. Delight in Bloomfield's scrumptious international and Jamaican cuisine washed down with a cold draught Red Stripe beer.

In 1836, Howe Peter Browne, 2nd (or 3rd) Marquess of Sligo, returned to Westport, Ireland, taking with him memories of the spicy and exotic dishes he had been served during his governship of Jamaica.
His abandoned wife told him hey why don't you go back to Jamaica, jerk.

Sligo, himself, was among the first to free his slaves on his Jamaican estate - Kelly's and Cocoa Walks estates- which he had inherited from his ancestors, the Kellys and Brownes of Ireland; Jamaican settlers from the late 1600s.
The Brownes became wealthy and were numbered among the respected members of the planters who were famous for their entertaining and the variety of food they served and singing Respect which later on Aretha Franklin made famous.
In Jamaica, their name always meant spice in a bottle.
Specially selected recipes from his treasure chest are now being prepared and bottled for the Busha Browne's Company in Jamaica to be enjoyed today as much as they were over 200 years ago.
But as he was a bad business man and lost money his bottled spices were named for him. Shown on left.
Just think what a neat gift a bottle of this would make for your lame boss or mother-in-law.

And on some lines, this happens:
Last Minute Seat Changes Joel purchased a ticket nine months ago and selected his favorite seat ( 12J) as that's the lucky number for him.
He periodically checked to make sure he still had the seat as Joel is obsesive, and did, up to the point where he checked in for the flight to Hyatt Rose Hall Jamaica.
When arriving at the connecting airport, not only did Joel not have 12 J, but no seat at all!
How will he get to Rose Hall?
The seat was reassigned to 32B, and was now on a full plane.

Joel loves to sleep in as he's a night person, just waiting to dig the groovy bars and night life at the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall Jamaica.
He has a 5:30 AM flight.

romance is possible in the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall JamaicaThis poor soul tried her luck on the ABC network show the Dating Game. Nothing. Nada. Rien. Zilch.
Then on dating websites. Nothing.
Back in Yemen where she lived in a cave and wore a veil she saw few men.
On the dating sites she listed her interests as milking goats. Carrying bundles on her head.

No partner to be found. So she removed the bundle from her head. The goat from her bed and cast the dice here in the Hyatt Rose Hall Jamaica.
Single available men here from civilized lands found her shyness cute and charming.
Tomorrow she has a date with this Australian dude to go windsurfing.
Tonight she'll buy a bikini. And eye shadow.

On Wednesday she's going to the show in the Hyatt Rose Hall Jamaica with Tom from Ireland.

She can't believe all the fun she's having!

Thursday is the Reggae show and she'll put on her dancing shoes.

Near the Hyatt Rose Hall is the Bob Marley museum. A split level house dedicated to her idol Bob Marley. And almost next to the Hyatt Rose Hall adult-only Jamaica.

She's so lucky to be free here in the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall having a ball.
The Muslim faith proposes, single men and women can't be alone together.
Look what happened to Mohamed when he was 50 years old and his 6 year old girl friend who he later married.
The belief is that when eligible Muslim men and women see each other without a chaperon present, the devil is also present, in the form of sexual temptation, and he's so cool.
But this young chic from Yemn is no one's fool.
Young couples who respect the tents of their faith and of of the Quran arrange to meet with a chaperon present.
The Islamic faith frowns heavily on unchaperoned dating and premarital sex, hence the presence of a family member as a chaperon.
No chaperons nor devils here in the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall.
Regarding Muhammad's Marriage to a Prepubescent Girl, no danger of that here. No children. It's adults only.

This occurred on his second voyage to the West Indies.
Columbus had heard about Jamaica, from some Cubans who described it as the land of blessed gold which was a trick to get rid of him and make him to away.
Columbus was soon to find out that there was no gold in Jamaica.
    Not even Acapulco gold.
On arrival at St Ann’s Bay, Columbus found the Indians inhabiting the island.
Initially, Columbus thought these Indians were hostile as they stuck their tongues out and put their thumbs in their ears moving their hands up and down, as they attacked his men when they tried to land on the island.
As he was determined to annex the island in the name of the king and queen of Spain, or was it Portugal? he was not deterred.
Columbus also needed wood, water, girls, and a chance to repair his rotting vessels.
He sailed down the coast and docked at Discovery Bay.
The indians there were also hostile to the Spaniards, as no one dug the auto-de-fe (Inquisition).
Their attitudes changed however, when they were invited to the future opening of the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall from one of the Spanish ships and Columbus’ sailors.
Columbus said ho ho ho and a bottle of Manaschewitz.
Some of the indians were stoned at the time.
Columbus was then able to land and claim the island.
The Spaniards, when they came, tortured and killed the indians to get their land.
They were so overworked and ill-treated that within a short time they had all kicked-the-bucket.
The process was aided by the introduction of European diseases to which the locals had little or no resistance.
The island remained poor under Spanish rule as few Spaniards settled here.
Jamaica served mainly as a supply base: food, men, arms, women, and horses were shipped here to help in conquering the American mainland.
It was an important port for trade coming and going from Europe to the New World.
There are some European restaurants in the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall.
Fifteen years later in 1509, after their first visit to the island, the first Spanish colonists came here under the Spanish governor Juan de Esquivel.
They first settled in the St. Ann’s Bay area. The first town was called New Seville or Sevilla la Nueva.
AS the marketing boys felt this sounded better than Old Seville.
On May 10, 1655, Admiral William Penn and General Robert Venables led a successful attack on Jamaica.
The Spaniards surrendered to the English, freed their slaves and then fled to Cuba.
It was this set of freed slaves and their descendants who became known as the Maroons. Or mushrooms. Or macaroons. Or something or other.
Years later, the maroons would holiday in the all-inclusive Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall.
1 Columbus, signed his last will and testament on May 19, 1506, and made five curious -- and revealing -- provisions.
Two of his wishes -- tithe one-tenth of his income to the poor and provide an anonymous dowry for poor girls -- are part of Jewish customs.
He also decreed to give money to a Jew who lived at the entrance of the Lisbon Jewish Quarter.
On those documents, Columbus used a triangular signature of dots and letters that resembled inscriptions found on gravestones of Jewish cemeteries in Spain. He ordered his heirs to use the signature in perpetuity.
Why wasn't Columbus and others like him overtly displaying their faith?
Why hide the skull cap and adorn rosaries?
During Columbus' lifetime, Jews became the target of fanatical religious persecution. The Inquisition went after wealthy Jews to first torture them; then burn them alive; then the inquisitor confiscated their possesions in the name of the mother church.
These hooded churchmen claimed they did it in the name of religion not greed. Give me a break!
Girls from 6 years of age to grandmothers of 96 were burned alive in these times.
Thank God we didn't live in these times and can now holiday in the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall.

    The legend of the witch.
This Jamaican adult-only all-inclusive is near Rose Hall.
According to an old legend, the spirit of Annie Palmer haunts the grounds of Rose Hall Plantation near Montego Bay.
The story states that she was born in Haiti to an English mother and Irish father and spent most of her life in Haiti hanging out.
When her parents died of yellow fever, she was adopted by a nanny (or ninny) who taught her witchcraft and voodoo.
    And some board games.
And pin the tail on the president.
She relocated to Jamaica and married John Palmer, owner of Rose Hall Plantation.
It is said that Annee murdered Palmer along with two subsequent husbands and numerous male plantation slaves, later being murdered herself by a slave named Tatoo of Fantasy Island.

It has been concluded that the story was fictionalized (BS), modeled on the title character in a famous Jamaican novel, The White Witch of Rosehall by Herbert.
